getting pecked by a soft-billed duck (geh-ting pect bi a soft-billed duk) ger. 1. A problem or conflict that causes frustration or annoyance, but of which the adverse effects are not substantial enough to warrant the effort required for resolution. Ex. Susan was vexed when the janitor made fun of her paper, but it was like getting pecked by a soft-billed duck, so she just brushed her shoulders off.
